Sauna club

THE SAUNA CLUB

Now we have the opportunity to sit outside the women's sauna to peek, eavesdrop and experience
the conversations, behaviors and attitudes that different women's bodies, thoughts and experiences tell.

The performance Bastuklubben is part of Ögonblicksteatern's skin-close project of the same name
which explores sisterhood and intimacy based on the women's sauna as a space and context.
Three women of different ages meet in a sauna. They have been doing so for several years. In the sauna they follow each other's
lives through naked truths and difficult conversations, but also through everyday life, joy and hot
discussions. Sanna wants more children, but their sex life has become complicated with all the
they crawl around in. Riita is torn between her new young love, her teenage children and her
confused mother. Gunnel is about to retire and dreads the emptiness. She who has lived
alone most of her life. Without a job - how will she make ends meet?

"The Sauna Club" is about sharing your innermost thoughts. Is it sisterhood - that which
in close, intimate relationships? Or is sisterhood an action, taking a stand?
What does it mean for our presence and intimacy to be naked together and that there
there is nothing else in the room to disturb us?
