MASTODON DUET BETWEEN CONTAINER AND AERIALIST
Can you imagine one of those beautifully folded paper figures? Now imagine it constantly transforming into new shapes, made of steel and as big as a container. Can you picture it? Imagine a lone human dancing, climbing and balancing amidst all the shapes. Imagine all this and more - and you have the performance of Origami.
Satchie Noro is a dancer and choreographer with a background in ballet and acrobatics. Silvain Ohl is a designer, constructor and poet. Together they wanted to create a performance. With a shared fascination for containers and inspired by traditional origami techniques, they set out to transform the experience of a 12-meter container from shipping container to a thing that participates in the creation of new relationships. Origami is the notion of perspective shifts and the interplay between a dancer's movement and the slow change of a giant shipping container. Furinkaï is the name of the French company behind the performance, which begins its tour of Sweden in Skellefteå with the performance Origami.
