Västerbottensteatern produces, presents and develops theater and performing arts for the entire county. Our activities are wide-ranging and include our own productions, co-productions, guest performances and educational activities aimed at adults, children and young people. Every year, around 50,000 people in Västerbotten take part in our performances and educational activities. Our production and rehearsal facilities, as well as our home stages, are located in the newly built Sara Cultural Center. We also tour our performances throughout the county.

What does the role involve

As Technical Manager at Västerbottensteatern, you have overall responsibility for the technical department and for the technical processes in the theater's productions. The department consists of technicians in stage, sound, light, decor, props, mask and costume. You have staff and work environment responsibility for 11 employees, as well as extra staff brought in when needed.

The role includes supporting the artistic process and ensuring that the theater's productions are planned and executed to a high technical standard and in a safe manner. The technical manager participates early in the planning process together with the producer and other managers. The aim is to create a clear plan for the technical work that also provides the best conditions for each production. In order to meet the needs of the business in the best possible way, there are continuous evaluations of working methods, processes and skills requirements.

The Technical Director reports directly to the Managing Director and is part of the theater's management team. He/she works closely with the artistic director, producer and artistic teams.

We are looking for you who have

• Relevant education for the position, preferably theater technical training or equivalent experience deemed equivalent.
• Proven work experience as a manager or supervisor in the performing arts.
• Very good knowledge of the technical needs and planning requirements of performing arts production. Understanding and experience of working in artistic processes.
• Experience in budgeting for technology for performing arts productions, carrying out purchasing and procurement.
• Knowledge and experience of systematic work environment management and knowledge of the performing arts sector-specific collective agreements.
• Ability and experience to quickly shift between strategic and operational focus.
• As a person, you are confident and clear in your leadership, communicative and relationship-building with both employees and external partners.
• You are solution-oriented, used to creating and driving planning for projects and productions and enjoy working independently.

 

Other information

Type of employment: Permanent position starting with a probationary period of 6 months

Scope: Full-time. Evening and weekend work is available
