Performing arts technician sound

We are looking for you with sound as your core competence and passion. You have a genuine interest in the performing arts and have a good understanding of the role of sound in the creation of performing arts. Being part of development work within the organization where you work, you see as a matter of course.

Västerbottensteatern's mission is to produce, present and develop theater and other forms of performing arts in the county. The starting point and our goal is to give the audience courageous performing arts that touch, enrich and challenge.

The activities have a wide range and include own productions, co-productions, guest performances and festivals and educational activities aimed at adults, children and young people. Every year, more than 30,000 people take part in our performing arts performances and another 15,000 take part in our program and educational activities.

The stages at the newly built Sara Kulturhus are the home of Västerbottensteatern, we tour mainly in Västerbotten County, but also in the northernmost counties. Our performances and events also meet audiences on other stages, in village halls, schools and other premises. Every year we produce a summer theater that is performed outdoors in Skellefteå.

Västerbottensteatern AB is owned by Region Västerbotten and Skellefteå municipality. We have our production and rehearsal premises, as well as offices in Sara kulturhus in Skellefteå.

Job description
In the role of performing arts technician with sound as a core competence, you work operationally with Västerbottensteaterns productions and projects from the idea stage to finished performance. You are involved and run assigned projects throughout their lifespan, from meetings early in the process until the last performance is played through rehearsal - performance - and touring work.

You are responsible forfor the production and running of theater performances, talks, lectures, etc., receiving and conducting guest performances, and ensuring that the theater's sound equipment is updated asas well as ongoing maintenance and servicing.

The work also includes, within your competence, in collaboration with other performing arts technicians at the theater, working across areas with all the technology used at the theater, both on home stages and on tour.

Your background
We are looking for you with relevant sound engineering education or equivalent experience of working with sound production in the performing arts. Good knowledge of QLab, several mixing desks and PA. You have good computer skills, speak Swedish and English and have a B driving license.

We see it as a merit if you also have experience from touring work, competence in other theater technical areas, e.g. some competence in light and light table programming and experience of working with media servers and projections.

As a sound technician at Västerbottensteatern, you work in close collaboration with other technicians at the theater, and with the artistic team. To thrive in the role, it is important that you are used to independently running your own work, are confident in your professional role and genuinely interested in contributing your skills to create the best possible conditions for the theater's productions, within the resources available.

In the role of stage technician sound, you are part of the theater's production technical team where collaboration is a prerequisite, we will therefore also emphasize your personal qualities when recruiting.

About the position
We offer and are happy to see appointment through permanent full-time employment, but part-time employment or staffing via own company may also be relevant based on the candidate's conditions. The work is irregular and occurs on both evenings and weekends. We are covered by collective agreements. Desired access no later than November 18, 2024.
