Author talk with Joanna Rubin Dranger about her book "Remembering us to life"

Joanna Rubin Dranger won the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 2023 for her animated documentary novel Ihågkom oss till liv, in which she digs into the history of her Jewish family and seeks explanations for the silence that has surrounded it. What really happened to the relatives who "disappeared" during the Second World War?

The book is made up of six interwoven stories, depicting Jewish life and destiny across several continents over more than a century. Illustrations are interspersed with text, photos and documents, depicting her own family story as well as the wider events in Europe and the world during the Second World War.

With her unique ability to depict our existence in a simple and powerful way, Joanna Rubin Dranger tells us about the most difficult things in a way that both affects us and gives us new insights. She writes about family, the Holocaust, being cut off from one's history and about our common responsibility to carry on the lives of the silenced. Now you have the opportunity to hear her talk about her book and the work behind it.
