Västerbottensteatern is a Nordic Storytelling Center with long experience and great expertise in storytelling as a performing art and as a promotional, educational method. With a focus on our mission to promote storytelling, we also work with networking initiatives and cross-border collaborations in areas such as social engagement and cultural heritage.

We operate in the Nordic arena and also have contacts in the rest of the storytelling world.

The single largest activity for Västerbottensteatern in storytelling is the annual Storytelling Festival in Skellefteå, which is organized in collaboration with a number of local actors with events throughout Skellefteå municipality. The festival week generates about 8000 visits to 130-160 program items.

Other recurring activities are the Storytelling Municipality of the Year, Storytelling Power, workshops and courses as well as practical educational work, especially in schools.

At European level in FEST (Federation for European Storytelling) we are represented in the board.
