LUCKY

A grand performance about what makes Skellefte residents happy

When were you at your happiest? Where were you happiest? What does happiness feel like?

The performance LYCKAN is about love, longing and pleasures. Desire and the depths of urgency. The unfathomable, magnificent, sad and banal in being human.

It's about Solvej, who likes to freeze at the bus stop, about Bengt Arne, who doesn't want to sit and cuddle on the sofa, and about Mia, who has walked into the wall. About Sven who loves his stick and Wahid who lost his words. LYCKAN is the beach where we bathed, riding at a wild gallop and listening to forbidden music. LYCKAN is the relationships, what binds us together.

Based on interviews with people in Skellefteå, the performance weaves together different stories through movement, image, music and text, creating a universe for all these lives and events to exist in. A teeming jumble of people, times and places that move in parallel and sometimes cross each other's paths. A vibrant movement and choral work about Skellefteå, now and then and in the future.

"If there is one thing we need in the often dark reality we live in, it is moments of happiness. Throughout the year, we have collected happiness from the people of Skellefte and now we are finally going to give it back. It feels very nice!" - Johanna Salander, artistic director at Västerbottensteatern.

LYCKAN is a visual, physical and humorous reflection on the small and big moments in our lives, our shortcomings and our wonderful human ability to love, laugh and enjoy. A performance that is like life itself.

On stage we see fifteen actors, professionals and amateurs. The director is Anne Jonsson, who is also a trained mime and choreographer - and works primarily with movement-based performing arts.
