A concert with a twist on freely interpreted songs and lyrics by Bob Dylan.
In a dark hotel bar, the Joker and the Thief meet for the first time? Friction and confusion arise, but the songs bring clarity and answers to both. Over the course of the performance, they face their demons, open up about their hopes and dreams, and help each other remember why they are here.
All the songs are linked and intertwined with short scenes based on stories (and lies) about Bob Dylan's life and work. It's a surreal, stylistic and Dylanesque journey where the Joker and the Thief meet for the first time, and they soon realize they have some kind of connection. The conflict between the characters has a strong Waiting for Godot feel to it, evoking confusion, recognition and a sense of community with the audience. The show touches on topics such as friendship, dreams, love and war. Subjects that, undeniably, are as timeless and ever-relevant as the songs and lyrics Bob Dylan wrote over 50 years ago.
Who are the Joker and the Thief? Who is the Tambourine Man? What is their connection?... Meet me tomorrow
"Yes. But I feel freedom in his presence. You make it sound like you're trapped here, like everything is hopeless. But what you sang earlier, it gave hope to people. Everyone in here felt it.
Like many of Bob Dylan's works, Meet Me Tomorrow is a dialog, free of rhyme, reason and chronology. It is a performance where poetry and music are in the spotlight, while a deep friendship develops. Something reminds them of reality and what goes on outside the hotel bar; love and doubt, memories and hopes, war and peace.
