Västerbottensteatern is the county theater in Västerbotten, based in Skellefteå. The theater produces 8-10 new productions per year and annually plays about 400-500 performances in Skellefteå, Umeå and on tour in the region. We play annually for over 30,000 people. We perform our shows on tour and at home in Skellefteå. Every year the theater puts on a big summer theater. Västerbottensteatern wants to be the City's neighborhood theater and the Region's pride.

Skellefteå's cultural life

Sara Cultural Center

Part of Skellefteå's cultural investment is the construction of the new cultural center - SARA - in the center of Skellefteå. SARA Kulturhus opened on September 8, 2021 and is Västerbottensteatern's new "home stage". In addition to Västerbottensteatern, several cultural activities are housed in the house. Together with Skellefteå City Library, Skellefteå Konsthall, Museum Anna Nordlander, Sara Kulturhusbolag and The Wood Hotel by Elite, we fill Sweden's newest and most modern cultural center completely built in wood with experiences for everyone.
