WRITING ABOUT FORBIDDEN LOVE - CONVERSATION

- A CONVERSATION WITH AUTHOR KARIN ALFREDSSON

Karin Alfredsson has written the book trilogy about Vajlett and Rut and their passionate but forbidden love story
in a Västerbotten village in the 1950s. The books, which will be performed at Västerbottensteatern in the spring of 2024, tell a story that has not been told before, about lesbian love, narrowness and Christian intolerance in the hinterland of Västerbotten - an environment in which Karin herself grew up in the 50s and 60s.

In the conversation, we hear about the background to the books, the process and the sources used. Karin Alfredsson has worked as a journalist for 50 years, including at Aftonbladet and SVT. Nowadays she works mostly as an author and has published 20 books, including suspense novels, often focusing on the oppression of women. Karin is the preses
(chairman) of the Swedish Crime Fiction Academy.
