Istermyrliden, what does this name really mean?
Ulf Lundström tells us based on his thesis; Bebyggelsenamnen i Bureå, Burträsks och Lövångers socknar i Skellefteå kommun. This thesis provides interpretations of parish names, village names and names of village districts, farms, pastures and fishing villages in Bureå, Burträsk and Lövånger in the southern part of Skellefteå municipality. Not only Nordic dialects but also Finnish and Sámi have been spoken here, and this has left its mark on the treasure trove of place names. The interpretations of the names are based on older written forms of place names from historical sources and pronunciation forms found in the dialect archives. But many of the place name interpretations are also based on information that the author has received through his many informants in Skelleftebygden.
