FRIDA SELANDER ON DARING TO LET GO
Frida Selander makes a tour stop with her new show in which she examines her relationship with herself and the world around her. The newly written songs are moving and standing ovations after the performances testify that this may be her best work.
Alone on stage with electric guitar, harmonica and piano, she meets us with her warm speech and the distinctive voice we have learned to like so much. Seriousness is mixed with humor and rarely have we seen her so playful in her expression.
The production has been developed in residence at the Nordic Storytelling Center and together with choreographer/director Björn Säfsten she goes deep into the relationship with the self.
The music runs like a red thread through the performance, which moves in the borderland between narrative tradition, pop music and dance. The songs have been written in close collaboration with colleague Oskar Sandlund and blend seamlessly with the story. They will also be released in a new album in 2023.
Frida twists and turns life, the narrative format and the music. She talks about trust, acceptance and the power of love. This show is about Frida, but it is also about us. She says: "There is only one way to hold on, and that is to let go." Do you dare?
It starts in you.
The performance is supported by Sweden Festivals.
