The Unspeakable: On Sexuality and Taboos Throughout History

What has been forbidden, considered taboo, or simply impossible to talk about throughout history?

Taking the Skellefteå region as her starting point, Anja Sundqvist Axelsen, curator of artifacts at the Skellefteå Museum, explores how people have lived and loved throughout the centuries.

The lecture addresses issues related to sexuality and gender and covers topics such as contraception, abortion, homosexuality, and sexually transmitted diseases.

We meet people whose lives have been shaped by the norms of their time—from the loneliness of believing they were the only person in the world to love someone of the same sex to the consequences that defying those norms could entail.

Free of charge but registration required!
