A storm is moving in. The dance of death can begin.
Now we give Strindberg's chamber play as a clown performance.
In a fortress tower out on an island, snide remarks and nastiness hail through the air. Married couple Edgar and Alice live in bitterness and disappointment in a marriage that has long since solidified. A poor relative - Kurt - comes to visit and finds himself in the line of fire. A storm rolls in. The dance of death can begin.
Are other people's misfortunes really something to look at? Don't you have enough of your own? We think not.
By having our theater clowns perform this drama, we are confident that we can see ourselves and the hilarity of our love and relationship aspirations. Come and laugh at all our shortcomings, and at some who hopefully have it much much worse.
Actor, clown and director Camilla Persson, who runs the theater group Dotterbolaget, will come to Västerbottensteatern in 2024 to sink her teeth into Strindberg's chamber play Dödsdansen.
This drama is performed by our theater clowns and on stage we see Västerbottensteatern's actors Niklas Larsson Lirell, Andreas Anterot and Malin Vispe.
🌟PRESSQUOTE 🌟
VÄSTERBOTTENS KURIREN
"High energy and technical skill when Västerbottensteatern takes on Strindberg in clown costumes." "Yellow voices, red noses and eye makeup are the palette they work with and are carried with great technical skill by Malin Vispe, Andreas Anterot and Niklas Larsson Lirell"
"The character Jenny deserves a separate mention as the smallest but perhaps sharpest role interpretation, a comic relief in the middle of the comedy if you will, in Anderas Anterot's interpretation. Jenny, the maid who states that The Dance of Death is a very strange play, but who both knows and loves her Strindberg, devotedly. Give her her own show in the future!" - Sara Meidell, VK
NORRAN
"...refreshing and hysterical 2.0... Camilla Persson adds another level of madhouse atmosphere to August Strindberg's play. "
"The maid, Jenny, who has the least stage time is most memorable. Andreas Anterot...even his interpretation of chubby cousin Kurt...is a delightfully subtle performance."
"Niklas Larsson Lirell makes the self-satisfied ... Captain Edgar an anxious and lonely man. Through him, ... The Dance of Death gains depth."
"...Malin Vispe plays the bitter wife Alice with a vengeance. Her tongue swells with contempt and spits out malice as quickly as a Blackbird in combat mode."
"The costume designer and make-up artist Helena Andersson has taken the turns, which means that the senselessness owns the stage." - Ingela Lekfalk, Norran

The cast really managed to capture the audience. Entertaining but the biting comments are a reminder of the seriousness of a wounded relationship. Many thanks!!!! - Audience Voice

THE DANCE OF DEATH
A storm moves in. The dance of death can begin. Now we give Strindberg’s chamber play as a clown performance.
In a fortress tower out on an island, glints and rudeness rain through the air. The married couple Edgar and Alice live in bitterness and disappointment in a long-established marriage. A poor relative – Kurt – comes to visit and ends up in the firing line. A storm moves in. The dance of death can begin.
Are other people’s misfortunes really something to watch? Don’t have enough of your own? We believe differently.
By letting our theater clowns act out this drama, we are convinced that we can see ourselves and the fatality of our love and relationship pursuits. Come and laugh at all our shortcomings, and at some who hopefully have it much, much worse.
The actor, clown and director Camilla Persson, who runs the theater group Dotterbolaget, will come to Västerbottensteatern in 2024 to put her teeth into Strindberg’s chamber play Death Dance.
