The current Malå Accordion Club was founded in 2009. It was well known that there were a number of musicians who had composed their own songs, and one of the new club’s goals was to document music from Malå. This became a four-year Leader project, which resulted in the registration of just over 40 composers with a combined total of more than 400 songs.
In this storytelling performance, you’ll get to experience both the documentation process and excerpts from the music that was preserved, as well as stories about the musicians, the creation of the songs, anecdotes, and much more. In addition, the material is presented in the form of two music booklets.
