Author visit Mikael Berglund

Meet author Mikael Berglund, winner of the Swedish Radio Novel Prize 2023 for his novel Ovanjorden. "Ovanjorden is an irresistible depiction of love, homesickness and alienation, seen through swarms of mosquitoes, sour holes and heather."

Mikael Berglund was born and raised in various places in Västerbotten, now living in Umeå. His debut novel was nominated for the Katapult Prize, his second book Smekmånader was nominated for the Svenska Dagbladet novel prize. In 2022, he published his third novel, Ovanjorden, about the preschool teacher Oskar and the reindeer herder Eija, illustrated by himself. The novel received a brilliant review in DN and we have invited him to talk about his writing.
