Her daughter

Direct from Vilnius comes a guest appearance by one of Lithuania's great storytellers, Milda Varnuskaitė. Part of NBC's network of Nordic and Baltic colleagues, she will present her own interpretation of the popular folk tale "Spruce, Queen of Snakes".

We follow daughter Aspen as she is accused of betraying her father - an act that later leads to his death. But was there a reason for her to make this fateful decision? Milda's adaptation focuses on the relationship between mother Spruce and her youngest daughter Aspen. Are daughters capable of breaking out of generational cycles or are they bound to keep repeating them?

"Her daughter" is a fairy tale with feminist overtones that contains both humor and wisdom. There is female strength and empowerment here, but the exciting story is also lined with injustice and abuse. Welcome to the shores of the Baltic Sea, where the secrets of the underwater palace are revealed...

Mentored during the production by Abbi Patrix, one of the great European names in storytelling, we are delighted to welcome Milda to our company. Her powerful performance fits nicely into our theme "In Sara's Footsteps".

This tour is carried out in collaboration with the Lithuanian Cultural Attaché in Sweden, Finland and Denmark, supported by the Lithuanian Culture Institute.
