Nils van der Poel, Motivation - my weakest link

Each person's story is unique and worth listening to. Some are particularly interesting, like that of skating star, Olympic and world champion Nils van der Poel. At just 25, he had won everything there was to win, set world records and ended his elite career by publicly publishing his training diary - and giving away one of his Olympic gold medals to imprisoned Gui Minhai.

However, he says that motivation is his weakest link: "I didn't choose my dreams, many times I wished I had dreamed of something less strenuous than skating 10 000 meters. The weakest link in my sports career was always my lack of motivation. What prevented me from succeeding was first and foremost my unwillingness to do so.

Come and listen to Nils' inspiring story where he talks about how he learned to understand his driving forces and made them grow stronger. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and Monica Lindgren will guide you through the afternoon.

The program is organized by the Nordic Storytelling Centre in collaboration with RF Sisu, Electrolux Home, Kulturhusbolaget and The Wood Hotel and is part of the Storytelling Festival 2022.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, May 18 at 10:00.
