Nightingale

How can the little Nightingale sing so beautifully that even death shies away? How can the most powerful person in the whole country not have heard the song of the little gray bird? The nightingale is a very special bird indeed. No wonder the Emperor wants to lock it up in his palace so that it can sing to him all day long. But the little gray bird isn't going to be locked up to play the emperor's tune.

Love, imagination and creativity have one thing in common: they all wither under duress. Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of the Nightingale is about just that, that freedom is a prerequisite for life. In Teater Kung och Drottning's version, we let this classic work meet the most modern of technologies. It is narrative theater, but also a sound experience. The audience is surrounded and enclosed in the soundscape that, together with the actor, paints pictures and environments and moves the story forward. The Nightingale is a very modern classic in our version.
