Following an acclaimed album release at Fasching in Stockholm in April 2023, and sold-out Povel shows at the Stockholm City Theater, Jenny Almsenius and her musicians have been on a long and well-received Povel Ramel tour throughout the country. With a generous dose of charm, humor, and flair—and a harmonica always at the ready in her pocket—Jenny Almsenius sings Povel Ramel’s songs in a style that is both innovative and familiar. Together with the renowned jazz pianist Daniel Tilling and the swinging double bassist Johan Bengtsson, she takes the audience on a blues-infused, jazzy journey into Ramel’s world of rhymes. Why is Louise so shy, and how many suitors did the last maiden actually have? How do we blow away the evil together?
The stories extend beyond the stage and invite listeners to both laugh and reflect. In 2023, the tribute album “Medan natten sänkte sin sammet, Jenny Almsenius sjunger Povel Ramel” was released. The audience will get to enjoy songs from the album—and more Ramel—during the concert!
