Romani costumes - Romani history

Display of Romani costumes with history in the exhibition on the ground floor of Nordanå.

Today's costumes have their origins in older traditions and in the Nordic folk fashion of the time when they were exiled to the eastern part of Finland. Romani costumes follow their own fashion. Nowadays, fabrics are bought from Dubai or Turkey. The skirt has 27 meters of fabric and weighs 7-10 kilos. It is very warm in summer and very cold in winter. If you want to know more, come to a viewing!
