Narrative dance performance about identity.
A personal quest for the body as home. In an exploration of identity, in a place where the concept of home is constantly under threat; where a body is scrutinized by gender norms and social structures, Saffron is a story about shaping your identity. Palestinian choreographer and dancer Hala Salem takes you through her personal journey of narrative and physical dance.
Accompanied by Lynn Adib's groundbreaking blend of Arabic folk music and electronics, Salem rediscovers his body as a home. Produced by the Storytelling Center, with animation by Ghenwa Noiré.
PRESS RELEASE:
After the premiere in February, one of Amsterdam's biggest newspapers wrote: "When Salem, who has always felt like an outsider, dances, something beyond words is released."
