"The Kingdom of Round Logs" is a documentary film by Robert Tedestedt and Janne Wännström that chronicles life in the village of Renbergsvattnet over the course of a year.
The film’s premise is drawn from Sara Lidman’s novel*Tjärdalen*:“As long as you live in a village, you have to care.”A mindset that, according to Robert Tedestedt, fits well with his hometown of Renbergsvattnet.
The film is a visual story about a village where history often feels present. The title refers to the 19th-century log buildings that still stand in the village—structures that were once essential to survival and that today hold objects, memories, and stories.
*The Kingdom of Round Logs*is also a personal collage in which Robert Tedestedt tells the story of his own village through words and images. Janne Wännström has composed original music for the film’s various chapters. The narrative style is rustic, and the film reflects a rural perspective on life.
Since its premiere in Burträsk in January, the documentary has been seen by over a thousand people in theaters.

About the Filmmakers
Robert Tedestedt, born in 1953, has worked as a journalist in print, radio, and television throughout his career. Janne Wännström, born in 1954, is a musician and works in radio and television production. Both contributed to the film’s cinematography and editing.
