SNOW – A Winter Tale

A winter tale in words and music

A performance and interdisciplinary collaboration between the historian of ideas and author Sverker Sörlin and the composer and cellist Johanna Sjunnesson, based on Sörlin’s book *Snow: A History*.

The performance “SNOW – A WINTER TALE” can be described as a fusion of climate meditation and stand-up magic, where music and storytelling come together to prompt reflection on how snow affects us, both physically and emotionally.
Johanna Sjunnesson’s musical language, which interacts with the text, is characterized by resonance, stillness, and listening, with the cello forming an independent artistic layer within the performance.

Niklas Zachrisson is the show’s producer and has also produced Sverker Sörlin’s summer and winter talk shows on P1.

————————————-

The book *Snow*—a history by Sverker Sörlin—has become one of the most acclaimed Swedish nonfiction books of recent years, and the rights to it have so far been sold in nine languages, including English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. The work is unique, but an equally important reason for the attention it has received is the growing anxiety in the world, where the Earth itself seems increasingly alien and its most basic elements, such as snow and ice, are beginning to behave differently—
not because of the whims of nature, but as a result of our human actions.
