An unplanned pregnancy can still cause problems today. Just a few generations ago, attitudes toward pregnancy among unmarried women were very negative. Leaving one’s child at an infant home for later placement in a foster home or for adoption was one of several possible solutions. Even married families could receive assistance when needed.
