Once upon a time this past summer…
What happens when young people have the time to discover their stories—and the courage to share them with others?
For three weeks this summer, ten young people worked at the Västerbotten Theater during their summer break and explored the art form of oral storytelling. They listened, told stories, and experimented with various storytelling techniques. They created their own stories, worked with stories passed down through generations, and explored how voice, body, presence, and imagination can help a story come to life.
Now, some of this summer’s young storytellers are set to meet the audience at the Storytelling Festival. They’ll be sharing a selection of the stories that have taken shape over the past few weeks—personal stories as well as tales passed down by word of mouth.
