This is how Sara Lidman encouraged the women of Algot to resist closure at a demonstration on December 3, 1978 in Pansalen in Skellefteå. She should probably include herself in that group of women, because she was really made to let the authorities know what was going on! In addition to being an outstanding writer, Sara Lidman was an outstanding speaker and agitator. Throughout her life, her commitment to human rights and environmental issues was a passion. She became an integral part of the UN and Vietnam debates, and on issues such as labor rights and forestry. And she was controversial; for example, a bomb threat forced her to cancel an appearance at Skellefteå City Library in 1975.
In this 45-minute program, Ellenor Lindgren and Tomas Marklund give us a taste of Sara Lidman's wide-ranging oratory and we delve into what made Sara Lidman such a sought-after speaker and agitator. What is unique about her way of addressing her audience?
The program can be viewed before the performance Stitches at 19.00 on the same day.
