Kim's self-experienced story that takes us from a stand at the first bajjen match to the offer from
IFK Göteborg. A performance about daring to dream, daring to fail and who you are beyond that.
By and with Kim Gardell
We have long wanted to present El Sueco as a public performance and during the Storytelling Festival we finally get the chance. The theme of the day is Sustainability and many people may only think about the external environment, but we humans should also last a long time and then we have to think about how we take care of ourselves. UngHästen explores identity, pressure and the freedom to be who you are.
It is said that we are born as blank slates, but is this really true? Some roles we are born into, some come from other people's expectations of us and others we choose ourselves through life. Which of these roles can we change and who do we really become?
Through classrooms, changing rooms and boys' rooms, in this monologue performance we get to follow Kim's self-experienced story that takes us from a stand at the first Bajjen match with dad safely next door, to a team in Colombia where you play to survive, past Luleå and how it really happened that IFK Gothenburg called ...
Through football, Kim has experienced some of life's best and worst moments.
"Growing up, football has meant a lot! Something I am very happy about. But at the same time, it is not an immaculate or problem-free period.
The thoughts I wrestled with or the experiences I faced I do not believe are individual phenomena arising from a vacuum. On the contrary, I think many can recognize themselves, more or less.
So to be able to transform my story into a performance today that addresses and deals with a theme that I think is super important to talk about feels very exciting and meaningful."
After the performance, the audience is invited to a discussion that addresses topics such as: identity, norms, pressure, community and well-being.
