A forest walking among the houses

Performance with Marianne Folkedotter and Rickard N Jokela.

The wild look
wriggles out of
the tameness

composes
and
roars

- I dedicate the collection of poems A forest that walks among the houses to Mother Earth. It reflects my experience of being part of nature's remarkable cycle of birth, life, death and recreation. It is also about imbalances, loss and the fear of what happens when nature is no longer protected and the future is threatened.

In the stage performance based on the poetry collection, Marianne Folkedotter and bassist and improvisational musician Rickard N Jokela explore what happens when poetry takes oral form and is woven together with a musical soundscape.

Marianne Folkedotter has in her profession as a storyteller at Västerbotten Museum for many years and in different ways had oral storytelling in focus. As a stage storyteller, she has created and performed several storytelling performances. The poetry collection En skog som går omkring bland husen is her debut book.

Rickard N Jokela is mainly active in improvisational music. Both as a solo bassist and a freelance musician, he draws various influences from Indian art music and jazz, but also hard rock and hip hop. In a constant search for new sounds, he uses colorful effect pedals for which he has barely read the instruction manual.
