Musical theater gem about opening the door and letting in those who need a safe haven...
One cold winter evening, Mira knocks on the door of a lonely little cottage. Svea, who lives inside, really wants to be alone, but
decides to open the door anyway. There is something about Mira. She looks so different. She is so different. She laughs and sings seemingly for no reason and speaks a language that no one seems to understand. At least not Svea. It awakens something in her.
A longing to laugh and play with others - it awakens a desire to belong.
A visually beautiful and poetic little musical theater gem where language is not the central issue, but what happens between us ... and within us.
Svea and Mira's meeting - with words that we may not understand but with actions that all people understand raises the question of daring to open the door and let in those who need a safe harbor.
Using all the magic of theater, and without the need for language skills, the audience can step into a world of new possibilities and then at the end dance out into a hopefully brighter reality.
The set is based on Annika Thor's and Maria Jönsson's acclaimed picture book from 2014, which was awarded the Elsa Beskow plaque. The book is Annika Thor's picture book debut; she is best known as an award-winning author of novels for adults and young people
youth novels, such as An Island in the Sea and Truth or Dare - the latter of which won the August Prize and was made into a film.
