Due to illness, we are unfortunately forced to cancel the program. New date for the visit of Sara-Vide Ericson is November 20. More information about this will come from Skellefteå Konsthall.
Artist Sara-Vide Ericson talks about the Ditch Dance exhibition.
Sara-Vide Ericson's paintings contain artifacts, rituals, heritage and memories. Her works are created with a natural sensitivity to the Nordic light and its spatial construction. At the center is often a character created from a performance or ritual, which is often the starting point of each work. With exhibitions in Sweden and internationally, Ericson has established herself in the Nordic region as a leading painter of her generation.
During the summer of 2020, she was invited by Skellefteå konsthall to live and work in Sara Lidman's parental home in Missenträsk. Over the course of a year, she has collected extensive material where the finished result is not about the region specifically, but rather takes its starting point from certain literary encounters and environments such as the crown ditch and marshes. The exhibition Ditch Dance relates to the ditch, the wetland and the force that shoots up from every tuft of grass; that which feeds the interpersonal condition mentally, physically, socially and economically.
On Saturday, October 23, you will have the opportunity to hear how the exhibition came to be.
