We are moving to Sara Cultural Center
So we are finally here! Everything we have longed for and planned for 20 years will now become reality this fall. The move into Sara
kulturhus is the biggest change Västerbottensteatern has undergone in its now 40-year history, so it is fortunate that our organization is well equipped for change, something that happens constantly in a theater.
Just before the summer, my new colleagues in Sara Kulturhus, Mike Ejrevi, Head of Culture and Library, David Åberg, CEO of The Wood Hotel and Maria Ekberg Brännström, CEO of Sara Kulturhus (Fabian Arnheim, Director of Skellefteå Museum, was in Stockholm and could not join us) met me for lunch. We talked about dreams and challenges and I know that my colleagues share my vision and hope to give the residents of our municipality and our county the best the house can do. A desire that also exists in our common
workforce. We all feel really excited - now let's just keep the virus at bay!
In the midst of the joy, I find myself feeling sad, what if Med had experienced all this! Med Reventberg, the former director of Västerbottensteatern, who fought long before me for the theater to get new premises and who passed away
far too early just before midsummer. The very first theater performance I saw as a 13-year-old was The Tent Project, the 70s
epic about the history of the labor movement. A performance that came about partly on the initiative of the National Theater, where Med was one of the founders, and which changed my life forever. So it came full circle for me when I came to Skellefteå in 2013 as Med's successor. I am so happy that we had the opportunity to pay tribute to her through the interview I did in front of the audience in the fall of 2020, when we were allowed to stay open again for a short time.
This fall's repertoire at Västerbottensteatern is fantastic! Take the opportunity to book now. Above all, don't forget to mark your calendar for our performances När Prinsen kom till byn, Lifsens rot and Musikanternas uttåg. The works of Torgny, Sara and P.O. are not only part of the Västerbotten narrative treasure but also part of Sweden's cultural heritage. So let yourself be enriched by what they have to say!
If you've never visited us before, take the opportunity now, and if you're one of our regulars - welcome back, we've really missed you!
Come feel the power!

Ps. If Swedish is not your first language of origin, do not hesitate to ask our help in making the theater your very own resource
center!
